Tesco staff prepare for weekend of purple-themed fundraising

Staff at Tesco in Braunton are getting ready for a weekend of purple-themed fundraising in aid of Royal Devon Hospital Charity (formerly Over and Above).

From Friday, November 3-5, the store will raising money with a tombola, lucky dip and name the teddy competition. There will also be free colouring for children, and on the Saturday evening, customers will be able to park their trollies and treat themselves to freshly-baked waffles courtesy of ‘The Waffle Wagon’ in the car park.

Meanwhile, colleagues will be holding a bake-off competition and selling raffle tickets to win a hamper packed with purple goodies.

And staff at the store will be turning up the heat on their fundraising efforts for their local hospital later in the month when they take on a fire and glass walk challenge in Barnstaple.

They’ll be joining colleagues from Barnstaple Tesco Extra for the event at the Seven Brethren store on Saturday, 18 November.

Tesco Braunton Store Manager Emma Harding said: “We’re looking forward to a fabulous month of fundraising for our local hospital and can’t wait to bring colleagues and customers together for such a special cause.”

RDHC community fundraiser Kate Constable said the store was a shining example of community fundraising at its finest.

“We’re thrilled that the team at Tesco Braunton are taking on our fire and glass walk and are supporting their fundraising by holding a purple weekend at the supermarket,” said Kate.

“This is such a great way to involve the local community and help raise awareness of the charity. Every penny raised will help our hospital go even further for patients and their families.”
