A collection of ‘pre-loved’ wedding dresses is going on sale in support of North Devon’s cancer and wellbeing centre next week.
The event at the Fern Centre from 6-9pm on Thursday, April 11 is being organised by Royal Devon Hospitals Charity’s charity shops in aid of the centre at North Devon District Hospital.
Charity shop manager Michelle Wiggan said: “We’ve had some fabulous donations of beautiful wedding dresses, hats, fascinators, suits and table decorations and are looking forward to being able to give these pre-loved wedding items a new lease of life.
“As well as helping to reduce the cost of a wedding, all the money raised will be supporting cancer patients and their families in North Devon.”
The Fern Centre opened in 2020 following a £1.5million fundraising appeal. Royal Devon Hospitals Charity (formerly Over and Above) and its two charity shops in Rose Lane, Barnstaple and Westward Ho! continue to fund the centre’s £150,000 annual running costs.
It offers North Devon cancer patients invaluable access to a whole range of free counselling, complementary therapies, information and support.
Anyone wanting to donate any items for the charity to sell at the event can drop them off at the Fern Centre, the RDHC charity office in the foyer at NDDH, or at one of the charity’s shops in Barnstaple or Westward Ho!
