The Starfish Appeal is raising money to create a dedicated warm, bright and engaging space for the children, young people and families who use our children’s outpatient service at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital.
We want to provide activities, materials, furnishings and equipment to help the children that visit relax, express themselves and have fun. It is important to provide preparation and distraction techniques as well as multi-sensory experiences to alleviate any anxieties and misconceptions that the children may have while they are waiting or having procedures.
These techniques are also helpful in relieving boredom and benefit recovery, recuperation and rehabilitation.
With your help we can make a real difference to the thousands of children who visit the RD&E by enhancing the care our children receive.
We are also fundraising for all children services across the Trust, including inpatient wards, paediatric assessment unit, and the Emergency Department. Any funds raised that exceed the goal to complete the Starfish project will be allocated to one of these other Charity appeals.
